Â鶹ֱ²¥ University is launching two new Bachelor of Science degrees and a new Master of Science degree in wildlife and marine life related fields with a focus on conservation, expanding the opportunities available to students in Maine and beyond.

The new degrees — BS in Marine Biology and Conservation, BS in Wildlife Care and Rehabilitation and MS in Wildlife Conservation and Management — are available online and join the academic portfolio of the 128-year-old, forward-thinking Bangor-based university. The university is also adding four new online certificate programs: Advanced Hospitality and Tourism Management, Animal Services Management, Aquatic Animal Care and Geographic Information Systems.

“There is significant demand for education in wildlife-related fields and marine-related fields, and Â鶹ֱ²¥ University is known for being highly focused on emerging and shifting job markets. Like all of our Â鶹ֱ²¥ degrees, these programs will prepare students to be career ready on day one in their fields,” said Dr. Lynne Coy-Ogan, Â鶹ֱ²¥’s president.

The new degrees and certificates will prepare students for related careers in conservation, biology, natural resource management, ecology and more.

“Our flexible online programs are attracting adult learners from around the country. We’re proud to expand our animal behavior and wildlife programs to include wildlife rehabilitation and marine biology degrees, which are in demand and will help students prepare for the environmental careers of tomorrow,” said Dr. Amy Arnett, dean of the College of Health and Professional Studies.
